Rachel Profiling

Hello, I'm Rachel.

Writer/editor. New Mexican tumbleweed blown east to skyscraper country.

Right now, I am working on a book about F. Scott Fitzgerald, Sheilah Graham, and Hollywood in the 1930s. It will also contain a lot of drinking, powder blue suits, dances at the Cocoanut Grove, betrayal, gossip columns, crazy ladies, secret Jews, film lot moguls, and Dorothy Parker quips at funerals. If the world is still around then, it should be out from Random House around 2014. So let's hope the Mayans were wrong.

If you want to say hi please do. Or find me in short form, here.

Reasons why Erica Jong is a mf badass, #4578

“Suddenly women are understanding that our revolution is unfinished, that we haven’t got the rights we thought we had, that all the things we fought for are being retracted….the reaction against the 60s has lasted longer than the 60s ever did. Since then the right wing has embarked on a mission to raise money to eliminate sex and drugs and rock and roll. People are afraid of freedom, they are afriad of sexuality, let’s face it. I don’t think the United States is a civilized country. Perhaps the best thing for us is that we’ve lost our Empire, and maybe we will become civilized like Britain and France and Holland. It can be a very good thing for nations.”
