Rachel Profiling

Hello, I'm Rachel.

Writer/editor. New Mexican tumbleweed blown east to skyscraper country.

Right now, I am working on a book about F. Scott Fitzgerald, Sheilah Graham, and Hollywood in the 1930s. It will also contain a lot of drinking, powder blue suits, dances at the Cocoanut Grove, betrayal, gossip columns, crazy ladies, secret Jews, film lot moguls, and Dorothy Parker quips at funerals. If the world is still around then, it should be out from Random House around 2014. So let's hope the Mayans were wrong.

If you want to say hi please do. Or find me in short form, here.

” Sometimes, the business part of writing grows very noxious to me, and I wonder if in heaven our best thoughts — poet’s thoughts, especially — will not be flowers, somehow, or some sort of beautiful live things that stand about and grow, and don’t have to be chaffed over and bought and sold. It seems as bad as selling our fellow beings, but being in this world everything must have a body.”

The letters of Sarah Orne Jewett, despite being about a hundred years old now, are not a bad thing to read. At least in a song remains the same sense.
