Rachel Profiling

Hello, I'm Rachel.

Writer/editor. New Mexican tumbleweed blown east to skyscraper country.

Right now, I am working on a book about F. Scott Fitzgerald, Sheilah Graham, and Hollywood in the 1930s. It will also contain a lot of drinking, powder blue suits, dances at the Cocoanut Grove, betrayal, gossip columns, crazy ladies, secret Jews, film lot moguls, and Dorothy Parker quips at funerals. If the world is still around then, it should be out from Random House around 2014. So let's hope the Mayans were wrong.

If you want to say hi please do. Or find me in short form, here.

Hey there guy-

I usually like you a lot! You have reinvigorated my mornings with your spritely violin jigs, and I especially dig your evening assortment of Lafayette waltzes that would be more than appropriate to score a Jane Austen flick’s requisite “courtly dance” scene. But today was sort of a misfire. When playing to a non-air conditioned subway platform that is packed three rows deep with people shoving and perspiring on each other due to a train delay, and when more than a small number of those people happen to be Hasidim and their children in none too breathable woolen garments, it might not be the best time to break out in to the “Schindler’s List” theme. Just something to think about!

Thanks,
Rach
