Rachel Profiling

Hello, I'm Rachel.

Writer/editor. New Mexican tumbleweed blown east to skyscraper country.

Right now, I am working on a book about F. Scott Fitzgerald, Sheilah Graham, and Hollywood in the 1930s. It will also contain a lot of drinking, powder blue suits, dances at the Cocoanut Grove, betrayal, gossip columns, crazy ladies, secret Jews, film lot moguls, and Dorothy Parker quips at funerals. If the world is still around then, it should be out from Random House around 2014. So let's hope the Mayans were wrong.

If you want to say hi please do. Or find me in short form, here.

My grandfather used to have his bedtime stories told to him, on very special occasions, by Marcel Duchamp (he was a friend and frequent houseguest of my great grandfather Harold, who headed up the Manhattan Chess Club in the 1910s—I am making a chart). Now we have a book cover by MD that I have found is floating around the family, a pink felt monstrosity with a big stuffed woman’s breast on the front and the words Prière de toucher (Please Touch). It looks like this and it is my new life quest to track it down and possess it. Or at least just cop a feel.
