Rachel Profiling

Hello, I'm Rachel.

Writer/editor. New Mexican tumbleweed blown east to skyscraper country.

Right now, I am working on a book about F. Scott Fitzgerald, Sheilah Graham, and Hollywood in the 1930s. It will also contain a lot of drinking, powder blue suits, dances at the Cocoanut Grove, betrayal, gossip columns, crazy ladies, secret Jews, film lot moguls, and Dorothy Parker quips at funerals. If the world is still around then, it should be out from Random House around 2014. So let's hope the Mayans were wrong.

If you want to say hi please do. Or find me in short form, here.

So I am getting really excited for Bravo’s new dance show. I am a total sucker for anything that has to do with footwork and television, as anyone I’ve made watch So You Think You Can Dance or America’s Best Dance Crew can attest. And on that note, I’m pretty sure that SYTYCD is the best show on tv. Check this crazy modern Mia Michaels routine, that is (as watered down as it is) actually pretty conceptual and beautiful and played to hordes of screaming teens who are just along for the ride. It’s one show that helps me think melding high culture and pop culture can work to our collective advantage. Let’s hope Bravo can do the same.
